After moving around a lot as a youth, Mike’s family finally decided to settle down in Durham, NC. Forced to play sports by his parents, as a result of his clinically diagnosed attention deficit disorder (he really does have it!), Mike had no choice but to love sports. With his Dad being a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, Mike was washed in the blood of the ram as a youth. Although realizing he wouldn’t turn pro when his height topped out at 5 foot 8 inches, Mike decided he didn’t want to work away from sports.
He attended Appalachian State University where he majored in Electronic Media and Broadcasting and minored in General Business. While in college, Mike worked as the Assistant Sports Director at the campus’ radio station (90.5 WASU) and was a high school football reporter for The Mountain Television Network. Since his graduation from ASU, Mike has worked as the Operations Director at Country 102.5 in Louisburg, NC. He also has ongoing roles as part-time “in game” studio host for the ISP Sports Network in Winston Salem, NC and the play-by-play man for CBS Radio’s WFNZ High School Football Game of the Week in Charlotte, NC. He continues to dream of the day when UNC wins the national championship in football!

Bryce Johnson grew up in Charlotte, NC. His vision for being a radio sports talk show host began at a Colorado Young Life Camp during the summer before his senior year of high school. After graduation, Bryce decided to pursue his dream by majoring in Electronic Media and Broadcasting at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. He soon discovered that sports radio is truly his passion in life!
While attending ASU, Bryce took a variety of broadcasting classes, became sports director at the college radio station (WASU), and announced play-by-play for both the Mountaineer football team (who won the national championship three years in a row) and men’s basketball team.
His involvement at WASU paved the way for the creation of Bryce’s own sports talk show, SPORTS YAPP. The show eventually received a sponsor, and moved from a one-hour weekly to a one-hour bi-weekly show. SPORTS YAPP not only gained recognition in Boone, but became nationally recognized by the New York Festivals who twice awarded the show a finalist certificate.
During his four years at Appalachian State, Bryce also interned and worked at WFNZ in Charlotte and WXIT in Boone. Numerous on-air opportunities and invaluable experience with production, sales, and running the board helped prepare Bryce to step out and take SPORTS YAPP from the college ranks to the pros.
Bryce believes his passion for sports radio and the skills necessary to succeed in this business is allowing him to make his dream a reality!
